Veterinary Medicine deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of animals. A selective and effective treatment of animals according to modern medicine is important, in order to make a comprehensive and accurate diagnosis.
With a wide range of products HEINE offers a large selection of instruments and good solutions for veterinarians of all areas and specialities. HEINE offers both basic instruments such as stethoscopes, examination lights and headlights to support VETs in their daily work in their practice or in stables as well as special instruments such as otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, laryngoscopes and dermatoscopes.
Stethoscopes are instruments used for auscultation of sounds that emanate from the heart, lungs and the digestive system in order to diagnose different illnesses.
In order to be able to differentiate between those partly very low-frequency sounds, the VET does not only need to have good hearing but also a high quality diagnostic instrument.
HEINE offers stethoscopes with high functionality and a long lifetime.
The otoscopic examination allows a magnified view and detailed assessment of the auditory canal and tympanic membrane, and also allows the removal of foreign bodies or tissue samples under visual inspection.
Cleaning the ears of dogs and cats by removing cerumen, otodectes mites or foreign bodies as well as the diagnosis and treatment of an otitis externa are part of the routine tasks of a VET. Otoscopy is however also used for diagnosing other illnesses such as tumours in the auditory canal, othematoma, otitis media or myringitis. Otoscopes are also indispensable in the diagnosis of dental diseases of pets.
HEINE offers diverse otoscopes which have been specifically designed for veterinary medicine. They have a solid metal housing with scratch-resistant glass lenses. These high quality materials guarantee a lifetime of maintenance-free use.
Ophthalmology is becoming increasingly important in veterinary medicine. The early diagnosis of eye diseases of all kinds is a decisive factor for a successful therapy and for maintaining vision
Equine chronic recurrent uveitis (moon blindness), glaucoma, conjunctivitis or injuries of the eyelid are common eye diseases of horses. Common pedigree-specific diseases in the small animal practice are for example ectropion, entropion, ptosis or prolapsus bulbi. The Collie eye anomaly for example is an inherited eye disease of dogs.
With a wide range of Direct and Indirect Ophthalmoscopes, HEINE is a competent partner in the diagnostics of eye diseases of small and large animals.
Checking conjunctiva and capillary refill time, examining the mucous membrane of jaws and teeth as well as assessing fur and skin of their patients are only some of the daily routine tasks in the frame of a general medical examination in a small animal veterinary practice.
Therefore a good examination light is a useful tool in every treatment room of a modern small animal practice. An easily adjustable and flexible light source with bright and homogeneous illumination is also indispensable for special examinations such as for diagnosing skin parasites, removing stitches, or directly at the surgical table.
HEINE offers two LED Examination Lights – they convince with their incredibly true colour rendering.
The use of headlights has become standard for the dental care of horses and is meanwhile indispensable for VETs. Generally, bad light conditions for treating veterinarians in cowsheds or barns are however still the rule rather than the exception.
Using a headlight greatly improves working conditions in the equine and large animal practice – and can also be used for surgical wound treatments or outpatient surgery in sheds. A caesarean section in a cow is often performed at night where a good headlight improves the work of the veterinarian and speeds up surgery and also provides optimal support when performing surgical claw treatments or taking care of teat injuries.
The headlight can also be used in the small animal practice to perfectly illuminate the examination area.

Simply Bright – The EL3 LED provides bright ( > 42,000 lux / > 350 lumen), shadow-free illumination precisely at the point of interest.
LED in HQ – The new standard in LED illumination defining optimal light intensity, homogeneity and colour rendering for each individual examination situation – Colour temperature: 5,000 K, Colour Rendering Index (CRI) > 90 on a scale of 100, special index for colour red: R9 > 90.
This ensures true tissue colour for the most accurate diagnosis.
Shadow-Free Illumination – The compact illumination head (Ø approx. 60 mm) allows convenient, precise positioning, particularly in difficult application situations. Optimal positioning eliminates unwanted shadows in the illuminated field.
